UK LLP Accounts Filing Service

File LLP Accounts Online

Fixed-price preparation and filing of Limited Liability Partnership accounts with Companies House and the LLP Partnership Tax Return with HMRC. Send us your records online, approve your accounts electronically and let our accountants handle the filing process.

How do you file LLP accounts?

To file LLP accounts in the UK, accounting records are used to prepare the LLP's statutory annual accounts. Once approved, the required accounts are submitted to Companies House by the applicable filing deadline.

A trading LLP will normally also need an LLP Partnership Tax Return (SA800) submitted to HMRC. This reports the LLP's income, expenses and the allocation of taxable profits or losses between its members.

The Online Accountants can prepare your LLP statutory accounts, calculate the allocation between members, prepare the SA800 and make the appropriate electronic submissions after you have reviewed and approved them.

Which Band Applies?

LLP Accounts Pricing Examples

Both figures must fall within a service band's limits. If either figure exceeds a band, select the next appropriate band.

Example 1 — Small LLP

Annual turnover: £25,000
Gross assets: £80,000

Both figures fall within the Small LLP limits, so the recommended service is £999 + VAT.

Example 2 — Medium LLP

Annual turnover: £25,000
Gross assets: £200,000

Turnover is within the Small band, but the assets require the Medium LLP service at £1,499 + VAT.

Example 3 — Large LLP

Annual turnover: £20,000
Gross assets: £450,000

Despite relatively low turnover, the asset value means the Large LLP service is required at £1,999 + VAT.

Above Our Standard Bands?

Annual turnover above £250,000 or gross assets above £500,000?

We may still be able to prepare your accounts. Please contact us for a tailored quotation.

LLP Filing Explained

What Does an LLP Have to File?

LLP accounting can be confusing because Companies House reporting, partnership tax reporting and the personal tax affairs of the individual members are separate, but connected, obligations.

LLP Accounts → Companies House

A UK Limited Liability Partnership prepares statutory annual accounts showing its financial position and results for the accounting period.

The appropriate accounts are delivered to Companies House and form part of the LLP's statutory filing record.

SA800 → HMRC

A trading LLP will normally have partnership tax reporting obligations. The LLP Partnership Tax Return reports relevant income, expenses and other tax information.

It also identifies the allocation of taxable profits or losses between the LLP's members.

LLP Members → Self Assessment

Individual members will commonly need to report their allocated share of LLP taxable profits or losses through their own tax affairs.

Individual members' Self Assessment returns are separate from the core LLP accounts service unless specifically ordered as an additional service.

Designated Members

Designated members have additional responsibilities for ensuring that the LLP meets its statutory filing obligations.

An accountant can prepare and submit the relevant documents, but the LLP and its members retain responsibility for meeting their legal obligations.

Important Difference

LLP Accounts vs Limited Company Accounts

An LLP has a separate legal identity, but its tax treatment is generally different from that of an ordinary limited company.

Requirement LLP Limited Company
Annual statutory accounts Yes Yes
Companies House filing Yes Yes
Partnership Tax Return (SA800) Normally applicable to a trading LLP No
Corporation Tax Return (CT600) Not normally for an LLP taxed as a partnership Normally yes for a trading company
Business profits Generally allocated between members for tax purposes Generally taxable on the company
Stay Compliant

LLP Accounts and Tax Filing Deadlines

LLP accounts and tax filings are separate obligations and can have different deadlines. Filing one does not automatically satisfy the other.

Requirement Filed With What It Covers
Annual LLP Accounts Companies House The LLP's statutory annual financial statements.
LLP Partnership Tax Return (SA800) HMRC Partnership income, expenses and allocation between members.
Members' Self Assessment Returns HMRC The member's personal taxable income including their LLP profit share where applicable.
Confirmation Statement Companies House Confirms or updates key information held about the LLP.

Don't leave LLP accounts until the filing deadline

Late filing can result in financial penalties and unnecessary compliance problems. Providing your records well before the deadline gives time for bookkeeping queries, preparation, review and approval before submission.

Common Questions

File LLP Accounts FAQs

Straightforward answers to common questions about preparing and filing Limited Liability Partnership accounts.

Do LLPs have to file accounts with Companies House?
UK LLPs have annual accounts filing obligations with Companies House. This can include LLPs that have not traded, although the accounts required will depend upon the LLP's circumstances.
Where do I file LLP accounts?
Statutory LLP annual accounts are filed with Companies House. Partnership tax information, including the SA800 where required, is submitted separately to HMRC.
Does an LLP file a corporation tax return?
An LLP is generally treated as a partnership for UK tax purposes rather than being taxed in the same way as an ordinary limited company. A trading LLP will commonly have an LLP Partnership Tax Return (SA800) rather than a company CT600, subject to its circumstances.
What is an LLP Partnership Tax Return (SA800)?
The SA800 is the Partnership Tax Return used to report relevant partnership income, expenses and tax information to HMRC. Partnership statements identify how profits or losses are allocated between members.
Do LLP members need their own Self Assessment returns?
LLP members will commonly need to report their allocated share of the LLP's taxable profits or losses through their personal tax affairs. Individual members' Self Assessment returns are separate from our core LLP accounts service unless specifically included or ordered separately.
Which LLP accounts service band do I need?
Both your annual turnover and gross assets must fall within the relevant pricing band. If either figure exceeds a band, move to the next appropriate band. For example, an LLP with £20,000 turnover but £450,000 of gross assets falls into our Large LLP service band. You can use the calculator above to check automatically.
What do you mean by gross assets?
For our pricing calculator, gross assets means the total value of relevant assets before deducting liabilities such as mortgages, loans and creditors. The figure is used solely to identify our service pricing band and should not be confused with a formal statutory size assessment.
Can I file LLP accounts myself?
It may be possible to prepare and file your own LLP accounts if you understand the applicable accounting, tax and filing requirements and have an appropriate filing method. Many LLPs use an accountant because statutory accounts and partnership tax reporting can be considerably more complex than ordinary bookkeeping.
Can you file overdue LLP accounts?
We may be able to help with overdue LLP accounts, subject to reviewing the circumstances and accounting records available. Contact us as soon as possible if the filing deadline has already passed.
Can you deal with an LLP with overseas members?
We can consider LLPs with UK and non-UK members. International member circumstances can create additional tax considerations, so these should be reviewed before confirming the appropriate service.
What records do you need to prepare LLP accounts?
We will normally require your bookkeeping information, bank records, details of assets and liabilities, prior-year accounts and tax information, member details and information concerning significant or unusual transactions during the accounting period.
How long does it take to prepare LLP accounts?
Our typical turnaround is approximately 7–14 days once the information required to complete the work has been received. More complex LLPs or incomplete accounting records can take longer.
How easy is it to change LLP accountants?
Usually straightforward. Once appointed, we can contact your previous accountant for professional clearance and request the accounting and tax information needed to continue the service.
